Dr. David Gundersen, O.D.
Dr. Gundersen knew in high school that he wanted to be a doctor. Once in college, he started to realize if he wanted to be a “family man” and have somewhat normal working hours, Optometry sounded interesting and a way to have the best of both worlds. Dr. Gundersen graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in May 1979 and along with Dr. Ron Zuker (they became friends at I.C.O.), decided to go into practice together and bought Dr. Louis Jullie’s practice in Muskegon in August 1979. In 1980 , they started a new office in an old house in Shelby and began seeing patients there. In 1986 they purchased the practice of Dr. Wayne Gillan in Montague and started seeing patients there as well. In 2009, they moved the Montague practice to a larger more modern building in Whitehall. Dr. Gundersen and his wife of 40 years, Kate, have three children and five grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family, sailing, reading, golfing, and fishing.

Dr. Morse graduated from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University in 2013, and has been working in our two locations since the Spring of 2015, providing top-notch eye care to many of our patients. He grew up in Lake Ann and now lives in New Era with his wife, Joni, a pharmacist at Shelby Pharmacy.

Although now retired, Dr. Zuker makes his way back into our office on occasion. He enjoys assisting patients in better health and vision and also enjoys getting to know patients and their families.
Dr. Zuker originally hails from Owosso, MI. He received his undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University and graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1979 where he met Dr. Gundersen and they decided to go into practice together. Dr. Zuker is an active member of Lake Harbor United Methodist Church and volunteers at the Muskegon Rescue Mission. His hobbies include computers, video, photography and kayaking. He and his wife, Vicki, have two children.

Skye worked behind the scenes for us while in high school and has been on our staff full-time since May of 2019. She currently works in our Whitehall office handling a variety of tasks essential to the running of the office. Skye lives in Whitehall and has two cats.

Sue is one of our Optometric Assistants, and began working with us in 2005. She splits her time between our Muskegon and Whitehall offices so you may bump into her in either location! She lives in Whitehall with her husband and has three grown children. In her spare time, Sue enjoys needlework and other crafts, geocaching, and many outdoor activities.

Linda has worked with Drs. Gundersen and Zuker more than 15 years. She has been in the optical business for many more, and has experience in many facets of the office. She especially enjoys assisting patients in selecting the perfect frame. Linda has lived in the Muskegon area all her life. She has two grown children, and in her spare time enjoys reading, yard sales, going to movies, and flower gardening.

Chris came to us in 2023 with 13 years of experience in the optical industry. He enjoys everything about it, particularly providing excellent patient care. He works as an optometric assistant in both our Muskegon and Whitehall offices.
Chris is originally from Colorado but moved to Michigan in 2019. Since early 2020, he has provided foster care for a west Michigan cat/kitten rescue. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his grandson.
